Susan Wilhelm, PhD, has been an integral part of Clinical Tools since 2003. Dr. Wilhelm received her doctorate degree in Biological Chemistry from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 2003. During her doctoral research, Susan developed a love for science writing and education, which has defined her research experience at Clinical Tools.
Dr. Wilhelm has served as Project Director on several NIH (and NASA) funded projects, including science education for children, electronic submission of NIH grant applications (HealthProposal.net), and clinical skills training for medical students on alcohol abuse and education (part of MedStudentLearning.com). To better understand how medical students are taught clinical skills, Susan recently joined the Association for Standardized Patient Educators (ASPE) and presented at their annual meeting in 2009. Dr. Wilhelm has also written numerous NIH grant applications for Clinical Tools, and serves as an ad hoc NIH Peer Reviewer, most recently to review NIH Challange grants through the American Reinvestment and Recovery Act.
In her spare time, Susan enjoys spending time with her husband and two young children. She can often be seen doing yardwork, playing at nearby parks, cooking, or reading.
